클리프 리챠드(Cliff Richard) 1940년 10월 14일, 인디아의 룩크노우에서 태어났다

1959년에 ＜Living Doll＞을 발표하여, 영국 차트 넘버 원을 기록하면서 틴에이져들의 아이돌이 되었다.

뮤지컬 『The Young Ones』, 『Summer Holiday』, 『Wonderful Life』, 『Finders Keepers』 등에 출연하여

자신의 연기력을 마음껏 과시하며. ‘영국의 엘비스 프레슬리’로 통할 만큼 대단한 인기를 누렸다

1979년에는 ＜We Don't Talk Anymore＞를 출반해 영국에서 10번째 넘버 원에 올랐던 싱글이 되었으며,

 미국에서는 ＜Devil Woman＞에 이어 두 번째 톱 텐에 랭크되었다.

데뷔한 지 22년째가 되던 해인 1980년 1월 1일에는 대영제국의 공로 훈장인 OBE(Order of British Empire)를 수여받기도 했으며,

 또한 싱글 ＜Carrie＞를 발표하면서 80년대에도 어느 가수 못지 않은 활동을 벌였다.

1969년에 내한하여 서울 시민회관(현 세종문화회관)과 이화여대 강당에서 공연한 바 있어,

우리와는 친근감이 많은 아티스트이기도 하다
