Locomotive Breath            - Jethro Tull -                      In the shuffling madness           of the locomotive breath,           runs the all-time loser,           headlong to his death.           He feels the piston scraping --           steam breaking on his brow --           old Charlie stole the handle and           the train won't stop going --           no way to slow down.           He sees his children jumping off           at the stations -- one by one.           His woman and his best friend --           in bed and having fun.           He's crawling down the corridor           on his hands and knees --           old Charlie stole the handle and           the train won't stop going --           no way to slow down.            He hears the silence howling --           catches angels as they fall.           And the all-time winner           has got him by the balls.           He picks up Gideons Bible --           open at page one --           old Charlie stole the handle and           the train won't stop going --           no way to slow down.                       no way to slow down...                      no way to slow down...                               제스로 툴은 1967년 영국 블랙풀(Blackpool)에서 결성되어 마니아들의 총애를 받았던 프로그레시브 밴드이다 무엇보다 하드 록, 포크, 블루스 등을 믹스한 독자적인 음악성과 초현실주의에 뿌리를 둔 농축된 가사 쓰기로 특별한 피드백을 얻어낸 것으로 유명하다. 활동 초기에는 비평적으로 그다지 큰 성과를 거두지 못했지만 시간이 지날수록 음악적 포지션이 점점 상승 후에는 예스(Yes)와 함께 영국 록 역사상 가장 진보적인 음악 서클로 인정받았던 대기만성형 그룹이기도 하다.  리더 이언 앤더슨(Ian Anderson)은 제스로 툴의 음악을 통해 격정과 서정을 함께 표현하려 했다.  폭풍 뒤에 더욱 고요해지는 대양의 법칙을 캐치프레이즈로 삼은 듯, 그는 때론 활기차게 무대를 휘저었고 때론 가만히 앉아 한 악기의 연주에 몰두하기도 했다. 바로 가슴을 에는듯한 선율을 노래하는 플루트였다.  제스로 툴의 마스터피스로 인정 받는 1971년도 음반  [Aqualung]의 수록 곡 다수를 통해 그의 플루트 연주가 주는  감동을 느낄 수 있다.  제스로 툴은 이처럼 격랑의 파도와 조용한 호수를 내면에 함께 품은 광범위한 사운드 스펙트럼을 통해 프로그레시브 록의 역사에 Jethro Tull을 영구 등재할 수 있었다.   ~~~~~~` 멋진 곡이다.  ^&^
